Your Surgical Experience:

The goal of Dr. Duffy and the entire staff  is to make your surgical experience for breast augmentation Jacksonville fl as easy and comfortable for you as possible.

Dr. Duffy may recommend a baseline mammogram before surgery and another mammographic examination some months after surgery. This will help to detect any future changes in your breast tissue. Following breast augmentation, you will still be able to perform breast self-examination.

If you are a smoker, you will be asked to stop smoking well in advance of surgery. Aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs can cause increased bleeding, so you should avoid taking these medications for a period of time before surgery. Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. Then they may remain the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. After several months, your scars will begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.

Routine mammograms should be continued after breast augmentation for women who are in the appropriate age group, although the mammographic technician should use a special technique to assure that you get a reliable reading, as discussed earlier.

You will return to Dr. Duffy’s office for follow-up care at prescribed intervals, at which time your progress will be evaluated. Dr. Duffy will encourage you to schedule routine mammographic evaluations at the frequency recommended for your age group.
